HOKKAIDO, JAPAN
One of the worlds finest ice-sculpting champions, Junichi has competed in Fairbanks since 1996 and considers it his favorite place to express his appreciation for the art. He has received many top ice-carving awards from competitions in Italy, Norway, Japan and the United States. A true master, Junichi shares his knowledge with everyone.
Junichi is a retired farmer, and now enjoys his time with his three granddaughters. "I love Ice carving, and I love to go to different countries."
In 2016 Junichi took a break from competitions to focus his attention to mentoring younger artists in the art of Ice Sculpting. Ice Alaska is happy to see his return to competition, he brings with him his long time Teammate, Shinichi Sawamura and also Kiroaki Kimura and Takeshi Wada, all from Japan
