Rasmussen, Burr "Buddy"

Bio

San Antonio Texas

Burr “Buddy “Rasmussen was born in California and comes from a very talented and creative family. He first learned how to sculpt ice while attending culinary art school in Austin, Texas. His love for the art flourished and has continued for over 25 years. He takes pride knowing that he is one of the few “8%ers” and carves all of his pieces by hand, 92% of the carvers have turned to CNC machines which takes the hand touched detail away by computer generated devices.

Burr originated the concept of the Ice Fights and to this day is still going strong with this popular event. Set in a boxing ring concept, two world class Ice Sculptors fight in an ice battle to win the crowds roar and earn the title and belt. His work has won years of awards all over the world. Burr enjoys travel and has participated in world-wide events such as the London Ice Festival & BP Ice Art World Championships. Carving ice is a passion of Burr Rasmussen, however, ice melts and his talent doesn’t end with ice only. Many of his favorite subjects have also been carved by his talented hands in pecan, mesquite, burr, oak and pine wood by his talented hands. Although Burr currently resides in San Antonio, Texas, he is available for work outside his home town.

Hey Buddy- Remember us from Lake Louise. We still talk about the NY ice bucket you carved for us crazy NewYorkers almost 10 years ago. We still go there and miss seeing you and Butter. It was so much fun. Good luck!
