Ice Alaska Bootcamp

FAQ: Will there be an Ice Sculpture event this year??

ANSWER: ABSOLUTELY!

A growing team of Artists and Volunteers are now hard at work.  Harvesting ice from a local pond, and with the assistance from a couple local trucking companies, transporting the ice, each block weighs approximately 3,500 lbs, to the Fairgrounds.  The ice is then cut into sectons and distributed about the venue to become Slides, Ice Rink, Stage, and more!

This week we have working Artists from Ohio, South Carolina, Michigan and Washington, working alongside our local Fairbanks Artists.  We have volunteers from Ft Wainwright, and other Locals providing support both indoors and out.

The work has begun and in just 4 weeks, we will open the 2020 World Ice Art Championships!  We have switched up the order of events and will start this year with the Multi Block on February 15th.  That competition will run through February 20th, with the Awards Ceremony on Friday Febrary 21 at 8:00 p.m.

Then, Sunday, February 23 we begin the Double Block Competition, and run that through Tuesday February 25, with the Awards Ceremony on Wednesay, Febraury 26 at 8:00 p.m.

The Single Block competition begins Friday, February 28 and ends Sunday March 1st with the Awards Ceremony on Monday, March 2 at 8:00 p.m.
